He is Jacob Gress, died 11 Aug 1932, Buffalo, NY (married to Elizabeth Fink). The death date listed, 25 Apr 1957, is actually for a Jacob Gross, of no relation.
Any suggestions?

Family Search Correction?
My great-great grandfather is listed in the FamilySearch International Genealogical Index and a Pedigree Resource File with the incorrect death date. I cannot seem to find a way to correct this.

The bad news is there is no way to correct incorrect information in the IGI. The good news is the IGI is not a primary source and most people expect to find errors in it. You can add your corrections as a note in your own records. As for the Pedigree Resource File, the only way to correct that is to submit a new GEDCOM with the corrections included.

ReplyDeleteYeah, those resources are riddled with errors. They can still prove useful, though, if you take them more as hints rather than facts. I've found new generations of ancestors using them, but it's important to verify everything.
